EL1 Media Manager

Randstad is currently partnering with a prominent Federal Government body to recruit an experienced EL1 Media Manager for a dynamic 4-month contract. This role is a key part of the Strategic Communications Team, reporting directly to the Director. We are seeking a high-level communicator who can navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver impactful media strategies in a fast-paced setting.

The Role Details

• Pay Rate: $80 – $85 per hour + Super.
• Contract Length: 4 months, Hybrid
• Locations: Brisbane CBD
• Hours: Standard 37.5-hour work week.

Role Responsibilities
As the Media Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Strategic Advice: Providing high-level media and communications advice to senior stakeholders and contributing to the development of creative media strategies.
• Content Creation: Translating complex energy and regulatory concepts into clear, error-free media materials, including releases, briefing notes, and strategies under tight timeframes.
• Issues Management: Providing expert support and strategic advice on sensitive issues management.
• Media Liaison: Building and maintaining relationships with journalists and proactively pitching content.
• Reporting & Analysis: Monitoring media coverage to identify trends, assessing the organisation's effectiveness, and preparing performance reports for executive leadership.
• Public Appearance Prep: Preparing content and briefings for senior staff for public appearances.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following mandatory requirements:

• Mandatory Experience: Proven experience within the Federal Government or a deep understanding of the Energy Sector.
• Media Expertise: Significant experience dealing with media in fast-paced environments, ideally as an ex-journalist or media adviser.
• Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advice to senior stakeholders on complex communications issues.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to turn technical or complex concepts into plain-English content for a public audience.
• Problem Solving: Flexible problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse information and make effective, timely decisions.
• Must be Australian Citizen
